Jim Singleton of Sterling Structures gave a building progress report at the October 11 Shiner ISD Board meeting.

Singleton said a lot has been done at the new campus facility since last months' walk thru.

"If they can keep that pace there is a chance we can meet our projected dates."

He said that work has begun on the walkway connecting the classroom building and the rest of the facility and painting has started in the classroom building.

Driveway and parking framing is also underway.

Gloria Reindl asked about inspections of work being done and who will do the inspections.

Singleton said inspections and tests are being done now, week to week and even day to day, as the work progresses.

Singleton explained that the final inspection will be done using a 'punch list' - a list that will itemize everything that needs to be checked and satisfactorily completed before a completion certificate can be issued

He said the entire facility - room by room - will be inspected for satisfactory work.

Laura Kaspar asked about warranties. He said many of the items will be under warranty and that will all be identified and recorded.

The board approved payment of $1,007,866.39 to Sterling Structures for work and materials completed during the past month.

Mr. Lawrence also reviewed the financial report, noting a cash balance of $1,562,600.05 with 2006 tax receipts expected to start coming in soon. He also reviewed the various campus activity funds, cafeteria fund and the Personal Property and Revenue Bond funds.

The board accepted the Lavaca County Central Appraisal District's official 2006 Levy Roll of $2,275,540.88.
