Cardinals defense shuts out another opponent

AUSTIN — Shiner St. Paul’s defense pitched another shutout Friday night
(October 9, 2015) as they took down the Austin Texas School for
the Deaf Rangers 49-0, moving to 3-0 in district.
According to the stat sheet, the Cardinals held Austin TSD to -3 yards
rushing and 92 yards passing. Rangers’ quarterback was 7-of-24 with an
interception in the first quarter that was returned by Marco Ynclan.
Ynclan also had a 14-yard rushing touchdown late in the third.
Leading the Cardinals in rushing was T.J. Bell who carried the rock 11 times
for 73 yards and two scores. His scores came on a 17-yard rush and a four-yard rush.
Right behind was Jed Janecek who ran six times for 63 yards.
Quarterback Austin Barton completed all four of his passes for 65 yards,
two of which went for scores. His first touchdown toss was to Colton Machart
late in the first for four yards. Early in the third he slung it for 30 yards
to Nathan Pilat for the touchdown.
Pilat also scored on a 52-yard punt return to give the Cardinals their first
score of the night.
The Cardinals defense has not given up a score of any kind for the past four
games, bringing their shut out total to five of their seven regular season games
played. St. Paul’s other two games were a 26-8 win over Yorktown and a 56-12
win over Somerville.
Shiner St. Paul travels to San Antonio Friday (October 16, 2015) to take
on St. Gerard Catholic (0-2).
