Shiner St. Paul at San Antonio St. Gerard
The Cardinals hit the road for the second district game in a row with a game at St. Gerard.
The teams did not play last year so St. Paul is not really sure what to expect from St. Gerard but do expect themselves to continue getting better.
"I think the challenge is mentally preparing for this game when you are not sure what to expect," St. Paul head coach Jake Wachsmuth said.
St. Gerard runs a simple offense.
"They like have two wideouts or twins; they get in two-back formations and some spread," he said. "Their running plays are not complicated; they like to the toss, sweep lead. St. Gerard's passing attack is mainly drop backs."
St. Paul has gotten four defensive shutouts in a row.
"We have not given up any points for a few games but we have given up a big play or two. We need to work on preventing those," Wachsmuth said.
The Royals defense comes out in a split look with eight-man fronts.
"Our offense needs to work on executing and assignments, cutting out penalties and not turning the ball over," he said.
