LOUISE - Dustin Mayberry rushed 13 times for 131 yards and a touchdown to help lead the Shiner Comanches to a 24-21 victory over the Louise Hornets in District 31-1A action.

Shiner scored on a 67-yard run by Mayberry, a 1-yard run by Trey Curtis, and a 29-yard field goal by Kyle Condel, to bring the score to 17-0 at the end of the first half.

Shiner's final score came on a 9-yard run by D.J. Pustka in the third quarter.

Condel kicked all the extra points for Shiner.

The Hornets' scoring came the second half on an 18-yard pass from Clay Zboril to Andrew Clements and on 65- and 10-yard runs by Malcolm Warner. Derek Gold kicked the extra points.

While Shiner quarterback Curtis connected on only three passes, those three passes went for 131 yards with no interceptions.

Warner led Louise in rushing, carrying the ball 8 times for 130 yards. Clay Zboril passed for 163 yards and no interceptions.

Shiner's victory brings its record to 5-2 and 3-0. Louise is 3-5 and 1-3.
