PETTUS -- Robert Hudson scored on a 71-yard run as the unbeaten Pettus Eagles fought off the Shiner Comanches for a 13-6 win in District 31-1A play.
Pettus, now 1-0 in district and 5-0 overall, took the lead with 54 seconds left in the first on a 22-yard pass from quarterback Jake Stanley to Mauro Torres and Ricky Torres added the conversion. The Eagles went up 13-0 on Hudson's long gallop with 2:18 left in the third quarter.
Shiner, now 1-1 in district and 2-4 overall, scored just 23 seconds into the fourth quarter on a 7-yard run by Kyle Condel, but the Comanches couldn't score again.
Hudson picked up 115 yards on 9 carries whilte Stanley completed 8 of 11 passes for 121 yards and Israel Charles had 5 catches for 82 yards.
Condel picked up 97 yards on 24 carries and completed 4 of 11 passes for 56 yards, while Josh Nance snared 3 passes for 35 yards.
