This is the first time in Shiner Comanche history that the boys cross country has won a team title. The boys scored just 37 points with runner-up Weimar coming in with 54.
Noah Matthews was the top finisher for Shiner with second place in 17:38 and followed by Tyler Hoy (18:32). Aidan Seibert placed seventh in 19:13; Jayden Carson placed No. 11 in 19:29; Brock Sestak was No. 17 in 21:09 and following was Trent Kostelnik in 21:21. Christian Wagner was No. 22 in 22:01. Shiner was the only district school to field runners for a junior-varsity race.
Also for the boys, Quinton Parker finished in 13:29; Trevor Hajek had 15:02; Hector Cruz’s time was 16:15; C. Reyes was 16:16 and Ty Winkenwerder had a time of 17:20.
The Lady Comanches recorded 26 points, edging out Flatonia by six points.
Brooke Kloesel won the individual title with a time of 13 minutes 7 seconds. Lillian Egan was third in 13:29; Faith Wagner was seventh in 13:47 and Hannah Pustka followed in 14:28. Hana Lehnert was No. 10 with a time of 14:42 and was followed by Sarah Tronicek in 14:48. Jacy Chrismon was No. 13 in 15:06.
Also for the girls, Mallory Kalina completed the course in 15:19; Krystal Lauer’s time was 16:29; Kaitlinn Cowan completed in 16:32 and Lillian Steen was 19:02.
By virtue of their district championships, both varsity teams will compete in the Region IV meet on Monday ( October 23, 2017 ) at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Dugan track and soccer stadium at 700 Nile St, Corpus Christi. The girls will run at 11:20 a.m. and the boys at 11:40.
