The Shiner Lady Comanches showed their grit and determination in a 2-1 rally in the best-of-three series
last week against Weimar in the Class 2A regional final to get back to Austin.
Shiner fell 3-2 in the first game on Thursday and tied the series with an 8-4 win on Saturday in game two.
Shiner then battled for a 6-4 win in the deciding game.
Now, the Lady Comanches have accomplished their goal of making the state tournament as they will play
Harleton in the 2A state semifinal, scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday)
Lady Comanches head coach Steven Cerny said he is proud of the team for sticking it out to make the state tournament.
He said the key for Shiner is to just play their brand of solid pitching, flawless defense and timely hits
"We will approach the state semifinal like any other game. We just need to go out and execute," Cerny said.
The Weimar series will have provided good experience and preparation for the Lady Comanches
The game against Harleton is scheduled for noon at the University of Texas at Austin’s Red and Charline
McCombs Field althought that could change due to the chance of rain in the area.
Shiner defeated Harleton 3-0 last year in the 2A championship game.
Cerny said Harleton is similar to the Lady Comanches.
"They only lost a couple of seniors and are a very solid team, like us," he said.
The winner between Shiner (29-5) and Harleton (33-4) will play the winner of Windhorst (32-3)/Crawford (26-5)
who will play in the first 2A semifinal.
