RUNGE -- Shiner rolled up 355 yards of offense and scored 54 unanswered
points as the Comanches rolled to a 54-6 District 30-1A victory over the
Runge Yellowjackets.
Eric Murphy, rushing for 91 yards on 14 carries, led the charge for the top-
ranked Comanches by scoring four times on runs of 1, 2, 10 and 26 yards.
Murphy tallied the Comanches' first two touchdowns before Ray Gates busted
loose on a 12-yard scamper to open the second-quarter scoring. Gates finished
with 97 yards on 12 carries.
Travis Wright put the Comanches up 25-0 at the half with a 35-yard run and
Kyler Johnson's third extra point.
Wright then ignited the second-half surge, returning the kickoff 81 yards
before Murphy added two more TD runs.
The Comanche defense, which limited the Yellowjackets to 38 yards rushing on
28 carries, finished the scoring as Jason Kaspar rambled 18 yards with a
fumble for a touchdown.
Runge avoided the shutout with a Chris King 14-yard scoring run with
1:54 to play.
