Yes, We're Selling Our House . . .
Our 3-bedroom, 2-bath modern home was built in the early 1930's by Elo and Julia Wolters. About 40 years later, it was completely remodeled including modern electrical and plumbing, sheetrock throughout, and central heat & air.
We purchased the home in 1995 and have continued to improve the home with new paint, new light fixtures, pull-down attic storage access, new kitchen counters, and refinished original long-leaf pine kitchen floor. The roof, air conditioner, and water heater are all recently new.
Now that our children are grown, we're ready to downsize to another house in Shiner. So, this beautiful, spacious and historic house is just the home for a younger family .... or someone who is looking to move to Shiner for retirement ... or just a place to escape the rat race of the big city!

A Little History . . .
In the valley between the Lavaca and Guadalupe rivers, a little town began as an Indian settlement called "Half Moon." It was a place of ranchers and cattle, the railroad and Indians, outlaws and Texas Rangers -- and cotton was "King." Texas roots run deep in Shiner, Texas.
When the railroad came to Central Texas, Henry B. Shiner donated the land for the town of Shiner to have its start in 1887. In those days, the Wolters family were mercatile owners ... a kind of general store where folks purchased all their necessities.
Our historic "Wolters Home" was built in the early 1930's by Elo and Julia Wolters. Mr. Elo was a merchant (one of the Wolters Brothers) and a serious businessman ... his wife, Julia, was a lover of travel, poetry, music and art. Mr. Elo built the "1019" home for Julia with beautiful stained glass windows, a large hardwood entry door, south-facing sitting porch, a fireplace, and a carriage house.
In the early 1970's, the home was completely remodeled with modern conveniences. The rear porch and carriage house were connected and made into an extra bedroom and back foyer/mudroom, and a carport and storage rooms were added.
These days, Shiner is a great place to raise a family or retire from the big city. Excellent schools, beautiful parks, prosperous local businesses, fine restaurants ... small-town life at its finest. "The Cleanest Little City in Texas" welcomes you home.
